The Guild looks lovely from the ground level, with shrubs and coloured glass windows; however, the ancient temple levels below hold things ordinary mortals should not mess with.
The Concourse of Maddening Whispers
Aptly named as anyone who spends more than a few seconds in the corridor, hears strange whispers in a foreign tongue, that somehow they understand. The whispers are persuasive and tell the person to go and do horrible things to those who have invaded the sanctity of the temple. Early on, many succumb to the whispers and ended up murdering other wizards, then going completely mad themselves. Some killed themselves in the most horrible fashion, skinning themselves alive, peeling themselves open.
Now the wizards coming down here, simply wear a talisman that protects them from the whisper's commands. They still hear the whispers, but the powers of the magick within the whispers have no hold over them. Should a wizard have his talisman ripped off him, either on purpose or by accident, then he would be affected by the commands of the whispers.
Willpower Roll at -50
Crit Die Failure
01 - 04 The victim succumbs to the whisper's commands, he goes off and tries to kill a fellow wizard. However, once he approaches his target he can make another willpower save to resist actually committing the murder - Any failure this second time around and he plunges his weapon into the heart of his target. Afterwards, he realises what he has done but otherwise is mentally fine.
05-06 As above, the second willpower roll is at -25 and after the murder has been committed the victim goes psychotically insane. Walking around on a killing rampage, shouting the babblings of the whispers in a foreign ancient tongue. He can make another willpower check each month of insanity to see if he recovers his mental balance.
07-10 As above but the victim gets no second willpower roll, he murders as many as he can get away with and once cornered or his job is done, he peels himself open until his own death overtakes him.
