Dr. Giles Yeo

Dr Giles Yeo is a British geneticist, author, and television presenter. He is best known for his research in obesity and the genetic basis of body weight regulation, as well as his presentations on the BBC's Horizon program.


Born in Cambridge, England, in 1974, Yeo studied biochemistry at the University of Bristol and obtained his PhD in genetics from the University of Cambridge. He later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, where he studied the genetics of obesity.

In 2013, Yeo was appointed as a Principal Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where he continues to work. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge, and he has published numerous papers on obesity and body weight regulation in top-tier scientific journals.


Aside from his scientific work, Yeo is also an accomplished television presenter. He has appeared on several episodes of the BBC's Horizon program, including "Clean Eating - The Dirty Truth," "The Truth About Fat," and "The Truth About Exercise." He is also a regular guest on BBC Radio 4 programs, such as "The Life Scientific" and "Inside Science."


In addition to his television and radio appearances, Yeo has also written several books on the science of food, diet, and obesity. His first book, "Gene Eating: The Science of Obesity and the Truth About Diets," was published in 2019. This book explores the complex interplay between genetics and diet, and it provides practical tips for maintaining a healthy weight.
